School Board Seeks Input on Grading
Policy
At its
February 2 meeting, the Orange County School Board
approved revisions to
School
Board Policy IKC, Grading Policy, for public
comment. The policy is being revised to achieve
consistency in grading practices in Grades K-12.
Changes include the requirements for grade
calculations in Grades 2-12, changes in the retest
policy, and adoption of a ten point grading scale to
support consistency with other districts throughout
the Commonwealth. If approved, the new policy would
be effective for the 2010-2011 school year.
The School Board will conduct a public comment
session on the proposed revisions at its February 22
work session. Final approval is expected to occur at
the March 1 School Board meeting. If you are unable
to attend the School Board’s February 23 meeting,
you may email comments and/or questions to: Linda
Carlton, Director of Secondary Instruction, at
lcarlton@ocss-va.org or Chuck Winkler, Director
of Elementary Instruction, at
cwinkler@ocss-va.org.
